Day 1 - Arrival in beautiful Costa Rica!

Reception at Juan Santamaria International Airport and transfer to your hotel in San Jose.

San Jose is the capital and is in the middle of the Central Valley in the center of the country. The city has tourist attractions, such as museums, theaters, artisan markets, shopping centers, and a varied gastronomic option.

Day 2 - Poas Volcano National Park

We will visit the Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast. Then we will be treated to a coffee tour in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce some of the best coffee in Costa Rica and around the world. The careful process involved in the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean will then be illustrated, very hands-on, and then we will savor the delectable product.

After the coffee tour, we will continue to Poas Volcano National Park, where there is a noticeable change in temperature and exuberant vegetation of the cloud forest.

The Poás Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica and has one of the world’s largest craters. It rises above the mountainous forests of the Central Volcanic Range.

At the Volcano we will have time to enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, and hike on a trail to the beautiful Botos Lagoon as we learn about the different ecosystems in the park.

Day 3 - Arenal Volcano National Park

You will be transferred by shared transportation to the Arenal Volcano in the Northern region.

The Arenal volcano is one of the country’s natural wonders. You can still see the ash emanating from the top of the cone. Also, you can visit the town of La Fortuna and have adventure tours or just enjoy the plentiful hot springs in the area.

Day 4 - Arenal Volcano Hike and Baldi Hot Springs

This morning, you’ll hike trails in the Arenal Volcano National Park.

Walk on the historic 1968 Arenal Volcano eruption’s lava flow. Explore how the tough, cold, molten rock gives way to life in this hike about natural history, geology, and the most impressive views of the Volcano.

You will also stand at a viewpoint incredibly close to the volcano and step on ancient lava flows turned into stone.

At the end of the hike, we will drive you to the Baldi hot springs facility, so you can relax in the pools and choose among the different temperatures the one that makes you feel better. It will relax and restore your body in a surprising way. Enjoy a delicious dinner!

Day 5 - Rio Celeste and Tenorio Volcano Hike

Mysterious and imposing, in the very core of the Tenorio Volcano, manifestations of hidden power transform the union of the Buena Vista and Roble rivers into a sky-blue stream, giving birth to one of the most extraordinary phenomena of nature. “Light Blue River”.

Hike through the tropical rain forest of Tenorio Volcano National Park to witness the enchanting blue waters of Rio Celeste on this full-day tour from La Fortuna. Trek along forested trails dotted with waterfalls and rich with native wildlife to reach the convergence of two mineral-rich rivers that together produce the mysterious aqua tint of the Rio Celeste.

After the hike, reward your efforts and refuel yourself with a traditional Costa Rican lunch.

Day 6 - Arenal to San José

This morning is to enjoy the amenities of your hotel. An afternoon shuttle transportation will take you to your hotel near San Jose.

Day 7 - Irazú Volcano – Lankester Gardens and Orosi Valley

You will see fertile lands in which all types and forms of vegetation are cultivated and at the very top of the summit, on a clear day, one can be privy to an unforgettable bird’s eye view of both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

As we descend to the city of Cartago we will stop at the Virgin of the Angels Basilica – a famous peregrination site for many believers, some of which travel for days or even weeks on foot, in a pilgrimage of faith, to the site.

Next, we will stop at the Lankester Gardens, a University of Costa Rica Center for investigation that protects more than 800 species of orchids, bromeliads and countless species of other plants.
