Arenal Hanging Bridges is one of the most visited tourist attraction in La Fortuna, only 4 km (2.5 miles) west of Tabacón within a 250 hectare (618 acres) reserve of primary forest.
Over 2.5 km of trails through rainforest, 15 bridges from 5 to 100 m long and some over 70 m high. This trail is full of flora & fauna and amazing views of the Arenal Volcano. (Closed tennis or hiking shoes are mandatory, the park will not allow entry to the trails to those passengers who use sandals or shoes that do not fully cover their feet.)

A “must do” tour in Arenal for sure. Beautiful and impressive Arenal Volcano will amuse you from the beginning of the trip. Our attentive personnel will wait for you at the hotel lobby to lead you to one of our comfortable vans with air conditioning. During the transfer to the trail, which takes about 10 to 30 minutes depending of the hotel location, our guide will talk briefly about the tour itinerary and explain you with detail some really interesting data, about the volcano and the area in general as well.
You will also stand at a viewpoint incredibly close to the volcano and step on ancient lava flows turned into to stone. The guide will do he’s best to give you catching and interesting information about the place, the hiding fauna among the trees and bushes and of course about the Arenal Volcano, so the 2 or 2 and a half hours of trail will be really entertaining.

We start at 7:30 am with a visit to Arenal Hanging Bridges, a 2 miles (3 km) trail with 16 bridges ranging in length from 16 to 328 feet (5 to 100 meters) and with heights of up to 196 feet (60 meters), spectacular scenery of the tropical humid forest, special for the observation of birds, plants, reptiles, mammals and insects.
The second adventure is at La Fortuna Waterfall. An exotic swimming pool at its base and surrounded by huge rocky canyons make it a nice relaxing place. After this refreshing swim, we will have lunch in our restaurant “La Finquita”.
Following this, we enjoyed a hike in at a reserve at the base of the Volcano, through the humid tropical forest for approximately 45 minutes to reach a block of petrified lava from past eruptions. There is the possibility of observing a great variety of plants, and fauna, and the magnificent view of the Arenal Volcano and the Arenal Lake.
A great day! Now, put on your bathing suit to relax in the hot springs. We will be there for a couple of hours and then have dinner at its restaurant.

This combined adventure begins at a reserve of 240 hectares (600 acres) of protected land. Where we will walk a 3 km (2 miles) circuit with 16 bridges ranging from 5 to 100 meters (16 to 328 ft.) and up to 60 meters high (196 ft.). There is also an optional additional trail to a small waterfall to get some priceless pictures. This spectacular piece of primary rainforest is home to many species of birds, plants, reptiles, mammals, and insects which our naturalist guide will help you to locate among the dense vegetation. The second part of this combo tour takes place in our zipline park, Arenal Canopy Adventure. Our expert zipline guides will welcome you before helping you into your gear and providing a safety briefing. Next, we will head up the first platform with a height of 25 meters (80 ft.) to begin our way across 8 cables that will take us through 2 km (1.2 miles) of beautiful rainforest.
This zipline circuit consists of 13 platforms, including 4 built-in enormous trees with a specialized anchor system that allows the trees to grow unharmed. The cables range in height from 20 m. (65 ft.) to 90 m. (300 ft.) and between 70 m. (230 ft.) and 600 m. (1970 feet) in lengths. This allows you to reach speeds of up to 56 kph (35 mph)! Each cable has distinct dimensions and scenery. We will fly above canyons, mountains, farmlands, and lush rainforests. By the time we reach the 6th cable, your confidence level will be high, so you can let go and let the guide control your braking, while you focus only on the views and the thrill of the ride. Next, we will stop for the popular Tarzan Swing and our surprise challenge.

The tour begins in our stables to continue through “El Silencio Reserve”; a quiet place with trails that gradually climb through cattle grazing fields to patches of forest. You will enjoy the large shade trees as well as a variety of flora and fauna. We will visit the lagoon crater and the Arenal Volcano viewpoint, two of the most impressive attractions of the area. From this viewpoint, you can take breathtaking pictures of your horse with the volcano as your backdrop. Here, you will also observe impressive rock mountains; the product of past eruptions of the volcano.
If everyone knew the benefits of horseback riding as a recreational activity, we would not have enough horses to go around. Feel how each gallop increases your self-esteem, self-confidence, and love for living creatures, and even makes you forget the existence of cell phones, except to capture a good photograph. Even Sigmund Freud could not achieve the same results as a simple horseback ride!
After this relaxing ride, we will return to the stable, where our transportation will be waiting to take us to the next part of today’s adventure. We will drive 30 minutes to the La Fortuna Waterfall where we will begin with a 300-meter (984 ft.) walk down steps and comfortable rest areas to the base of the impressive waterfall. Your expert naturalist guide will share interesting information about the geological aspects of the rock formations and the history of the tall basalt columns that gave rise to this waterfall. The trail ends right in front of the powerful 70-meter (230 ft.) waterfall, which is the perfect place to take impressive photographs. You can swim in the river at the base, just not too close to the falls. The combination of these two activities makes for one unforgettable experience.
